Default Coreys custom 260's

Corey sent me a bunch of his .452" 260gr cast bullets he makes. I tried them out today and really happy he sent them!

Shots 1 and 3 are touching. Shot 2 is the upper right hand shot. The other was an old shot on the bucket from when i was testing the powerbelt aerolites.

I THOUGHT i was shooting 100gr BH209 for this group.

But after getting more loaders with 100gr and shooting this, i knew i had screwed up and was shooting to much powder.
100gr BH209.

Remembering that i originally was going to shoot coreys 405gr .452's i had tubes filled with 80 and 90gr. Now that i knew what my mistake was i went and reloaded 3 tubes with 90gr BH209 and went out to try it. Bingo! Shot #2 is again on the far left. Not sure what thats all about but i'll get it in line.
"upper 3 shots"

I think the sabots were the mmp hph12 but corey will have to speak up on this as im not sure what they were. They loaded very nicely and i was able to start them with my thumb and then ram the bullets home with firm pressure. Kind of like loading a Thor.

nice shooting. made out of wheel weights, they should really get some penetration.

the sabots I sent ya where the harvester 300+ gr smooth, I bought them for the 405's and the 312's, i did not like how they loaded in my gun, my knight likes loose sabots, but they almost went down by themself

Those are some nice looking bullets Corey have you had a chance to connect with a deer with that one? I am sure it would not be standing long.

I think with soft lead, these would be deadly as hell on game. Even with wheel weight they are deadly, i'd just like some expansion when shooting game.

Did you recover any of those bullets? I would like to see one and how it expanded.

Those in a 300gr or with a 20-1 or #2 alloy should be a good performer. Softer lead is a bit more fussy in a sabot and more care needs to be taken when loading them. Soft lead in a sabot also tends to loosen just a tiny bit if its left loaded for long periods.

I prefer a bit of expansion but a good hard cast and a large metaplat will penetrate great on large game but still leave a hell of a wound channel.
