My bear load is a .452 300g XTP MAG. I have 0 doubt it will do the trick.

The deer load your using now will work fine on black bears.i see no reason to change what works.if your concerned about .240 gr XTP not being enough bullet, you might step up to the 300 gr XTP.. black bears are not that tuff to kill, with a properly placed shot. grizzlies and browns are a different story.. I use 120 gr of Blackhorn and a 300 gr Deep Curl or if I might have to shoot long distance a 300 gr Bonded Shock Wave
Bear can get pretty good size the hide of my best one covered a major part of a 9 X 14 foot wall, they have thick fur and in the fall a thick layer of blubber.

BEST FOR BEAR

At that price, one can use them for target practice too. No, not me, save them for hunting deers, bears, elks, pigs, and antelopes; not gophers.

Most bear hunting that I am familiar with is close quarters shooting. Definitely 60 or 70 yards and shorter. If I were you I would try a good heavy conical of 400 grains or more and 90-100 grains of good old BP. A load like that will put anything in reverse you are apt to run up on. Tom.

Thanks for your input guys I was hoping this would be a good load so i dont have to mess w/ scope etc As far as distance even though I can shoot 2 " groups at 100 that probably be max shot I would take I may have to buy another mzldr and set her up for a littler bigger bullet Super happy w/ performance of xtps on the deer
