.45-70
#11
Knight used to see a orange sabot of .457-.458 diameter bullets. I also cast out of pure lead the LEE .458 diameter 405 grain. They actually weigh 423 grains in most cases. I shoot them as they are in sabots out of my .50 caliber or I size them down to a .451 and shoot them in my White Rifle.
There used to be a 300 grain bullet for the 45/70 I believe, it was made for deer size game. The larger bullets 405 grain were for the bear, moose, elk, etc.. Those have to be some real old cartridges.

I can load "45-70 bullets" (i.e. .457 or .458 diameter Semi-Jacketed Hollow Point or Flat Nose bullets) in several of my .50 calibers using Harvester Crush Rib sabots made for .452 bullets. I've shot them in both 300 grain and 405 grain configurations and get acceptable hunting accuracy.

Thank you for everyon's help. I am trying to sell off all of the reloading equipment and supplies shown in the reloading forum under reloading supplies. You can see it all in the reloading forum if you like. I would really like to sell it ALL to one buyer. But if I can't I'm trying to see what I might be able to use.

Yes they will depending on your bore and which one your gun prefers. Usually the Black CR and 458s are used in the larger bore guns. Most smokeless guys really prefer them over the MMP Orange but i prefer the MMP so far.
