Can you use smokeless powder in SD?
I worked out there for 6 months last year for RR in Edgemont.

No smokeless powder during muzzle loader season.

Forty five year ago is the last time i was through Edgemont. Perhaps i should take my muzzle loader with, and check out the area next month; depending on the weather, of course. I was on the South West end of Angostura last summer, which looks to be about 12 mile away from Edgemont.

When I was up there, guys told me about the Angustora Lake for walleye,pike,trout and great fishin in general.
I live in So. Illinois (1000 Miles to the dime from Edgemont) and we can use smokeless here. Pretty easy to get used to--easy clean when its needed,better velocity,lower cost per shot,great accuracy. Oh, and we can use scopes too. But NO centerfire rifles except for coyotes.

WOW: I see Pa. late flinter season has changed they are allowing
inlines this year
I have to agree for flinter with iron sight in the woods I try to keep my shot no farther then 75 yards compared to a inline easy out to 125 yards
I have complaint against inlines or next year the state (N.Y.S.) will throw a bone to mix the late season B/P with cross bows
The deer herds are not what they use to be as far as seeing large amount of deer in the woods
I been Hunting n.y. for some 45 years plus I think the large amount of does tags and a few bad winters took a TOLL on the deer herds and each year less hunter and less deer.

Oh ya during rifle season we can use scopes on centerfire or ML's.

During our ML season no scopes, percussion caps only, loose powder only, full bore lead conicals must be .428 or greater in size.

We have a very strong lobby for the traditional hunters here, while the rest of us are un-organized... A couple of years ago the traditionalist even got the inlines removed - they are back now, but must be open breech and use percussion caps.

Does the PB's...FPB's...Thors qualify? Also what is your choice for weapon during that season

Remember they must be full bore lead conicals.... so a PB can qualify, but I can not imagine using one....

The conical that I do use and has been a proven projectile for me is the .503/460 grain Bull Shop MTNex... dat one is a good one...

In previous ML season I have been using a Renegaded stocked GM-LRH SS barrel with 90 grains of T7-3f a .510/.125 shot card on top of the powder then that big hunk of lead... I have always recovered the animal but have had no luck finding the cannon bullet.



This next season I will switch from the Renegade to the Knight MK 85... using the same bullet and load.

Nope that is a camo job that I had done by a friend here in the area.... Tony does a really good job. He actually has done several for me...

I like to use a scope when my shots could be in the 100-150 yd range. I like my wiliams peep sight when I am in the thick stuff and shots are inside of 75yds. Also if the weather is bad, snow/rain, i lean to the ML with the peep sight. Works for me.
