moridgerunner - I did that same exact thing. I check to make sure my scope is on the lowest setting before I leave the four wheeler, every morning. And I do the same thing at about 30 min till sunset as well.

And getting the most amount of light, is why I was considering the VX-3L 3.5x10-50.

Light transmission is very important in a scope but it costs more for the better glass. I leave my scope on the lowest power at first light so that it gathers the most light. As far as rings go steel is better than aluminum.

I picked up the Triumph earlier this afternoon, the gun is pretty sweet!

This evening I spent time testing several different scopes atop the Triumph at Cabelas this evening. It is down to the Zeiss 3x9-40, Zeiss 3.5-10x44 or the Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42. The Nikon Omega set-up did not fit as well as either Zeiss or the Nikon Monarch.

Do you guys take your iron sites off when you go to the Talley Med base mount?

As for a mounting system for your scope, The Leupold QR bases, and rings are a good choice. I use this system on both muzzleloaders, and centerfire rifles. I like the idea of being able to take the scope off when I clean. When I reattach the scope it is right on target. One note, Leupold also has QRW rings which attatch to a Weaver style base, do not confuse these with the regular QRW rings.

I got her set-up, with the Zeiss 3-9x40.I had to go with the TC base and Med TC Rings, that's all they had in stock. I am going to switch over to the Talley Low single piece scope mount after the season.

The TC Shock Wave Super Glide 250gr can be pushed down the barrel pretty easily with one hand. The 250gr bullet with the black sabots that came with the gun take two hands to push the set down the barrel.

Picking up the CCI Mag primers and 209BH tomorrow. I also plan on picking up the Barnes TEZ 250gr. set. I heard the Barnes TEZ might shoot better than the Super Glides. I going to start with 95 grains and see if I can get some consistant groups. Then stick with that set-up for this season. I am assuming the TEZ sabots/bullets will go down the barrel similar to the Super Glides - your thoughts?

My Triumph loves the TEZ 250gr, with the supplied blue sabots, 100gr BH209. The TEZ load tighter than the super glides.

That is good the TEZ are a little tighter than the super glides - the super glides seem like they went in pretty easy.

What primers have you had the best luck with? I am sure you hunt in some pretty low temps up in Canada. They are calling for a high of 20 degrees when the season starts next week.

I've been using Win w209 primers.

Last day of our Muzzy season it was -10 C (14F), the gun had been loaded for 5 days, on a fouled barrel... went bang when needed. it had been through rain and wet snow early in the week!

The 250 TEZ with 95-110 grs 777 are deadly accurate and slide down like a sabot should in the triumph.
