Im still thinking its that cleaner in the plug. Happened to my brother and i a couple times and the next time i went to clean, i skipped the plug, fired the rifles the next day without a hitch of trouble.

You have been fortunate trust me. Knight, T/C'S, have the same problem. The powder was not designed around today's modern muzzleloaders.

I've NEVER experienced a hangfire whatsoever out of my Omega or Endeavor, even when out in temperatures in the -20 range using Bh 209.

I didn't even mention the omega which doesn't come with a speed breech since the topic was about CVA's whiz bang breech plug.again the omega also has no problems when the correct primers are used and proper cleaning of the breech plug is performed.Wrong again MD!

Builder, it was a copy paste by someone with very much knowledge in breech plugs.

I would add that I have shot a good share of Black Gold (Bh) from a stock Knight FPJ plug with out any problems other than the breech gets dirty from blow back escaping the Red Plastic Jackets. I did clean the 1/8 flame channel with a bit on occasion.

I will admit that a modified Knight BP will shoot more rounds with a lot less maintenance and with the coolest primers...

I am going to Bass Pro later this month or next month, I guess I will pick up some BH then. What Primer would be the best for that gun?

If you enlarge the flash hole to .035" like i did, you can use the Winchester W209 primers. If not, CCI 209M primers.

I personally think all the problems with BH209 hang fires is caused by loose fitting primers being able to slide back into the firing pin bushing and lose all its heat.

I will have to go with CCI as I don't have a spare plug and don't know where to get one.
