Default Thanksgiving Day Blues

First off I hope Everyone Had A Great Thanksgiving! Today just plain Blew! I awoke from dreaming of today and Big Bucks, but I quickly snapped out of it as I heard the Winds Howling and Rain hitting the windows.
As I sat here pouting and making Coffee I new from past experiences that it would be a total waste of time to go Hunting so I stayed home, My 8 Hunting Buddies went. By 9am they all quit, were soaked and saw no Deer, I was home back in Bed.
Our Season Opened last Saturday, we only had 1 1/2 good Huting Days so far out of the 6.
It gets better or mabey worse, tonight's forcast High Winds and Rain, changing to Snow by Morning. Then a Lake Effect Snow Storm is going to hit us with Snow expected to go over 14", then more Snow and high winds for Saturday, Dang!
But after it all ends and by Sunday or Monday the Deer will be up and moving. I'll still go out tomorrow just to be in the Snow but our Weather so far here in NY has'nt been good to us Hunter's, excpt mabey for my Better Half and Im not going to comment on that one just yet.

Well there is another storm headed your way.. so cheer up.

You will get one.. just keep telling yourself that. As for Thanksgiving... ate way too much food. It feels like I need a soft place to digest.

Well the Blues continue,,,,,after Days of what seems like never ending High Winds, I went out again this Morning to greet our approaching Lake Effect Snow Storm and yes High Winds.
I figured mabey with the approaching Front the Deer would be moving. As I get about 150yds from My Stand I see Deer standing underneath it, barely light enough to shoot yet and with the Snow really comming down I scope them and one is a good 8pt with some Does, too windy to shoot offhand and no rest in sight the Deer move on, rest of the Morning No Deer Sightings.
I sit untill Noon and decide to leave (should have stayed) but why the Winds were blowing at 40mph+++ and the Snow was comming down hard, I left. Walk 2 miles to My Truck and when Im almost to it I spot what I think is a Deer in the Golden Rod about 40yds from My Truck. I look through My Scope at the object, yep it's a Deer, Dead I think, covered in Snow and musta been shot and not recovered. I walk to it and get about 10yds away and the Dead Deer gets up and runs away, A Big Doe, no shot I was'nt ready. Leave and go Home.
Come back after Lunch and when I get back to My Stand there's Fresh Tracks in the Snow from probably the same Buck and Does that I saw in the Morning, should have stayed all Day like I know and usually do, but I did'nt. Sit all afternoon in the Snow and Wind, No Deer sightings, walk 2 miles back to Truck.
I LOVE DEER HUNTING! I really do, Wifes at Home Laughing and Warm watching TV, the rest of that story later........

Very seldom do I see much deer movement in high winds. Butttt, I still go out and sit in 30 mph winds and sleet hoping for the one deer that doesnt play by the rules. The rut is going on pretty good in my area of Virginia where I hunt. I have never seen such chasing of does as I have seen this year.

Well we got Snow, about 4", they called for up to 14". But with the Snow stayed the Wind and it never quit, it's still going. 30+++mph winds all day, I never saw a Deer this morning, saw 2 Big and 2 Small Does tinight, too far. Hopefully tomorrow the dang Winds will quit, I've never seen anything like this with wind, wind, wind for days straight!
