Congratulations... that is an excellent adventure. And a great shot. What a nice buck.

I am guessing, that is a .50 caliber 1-28 twist LRH Green Mountain Barrel on that Renegade? What powder and charge did you shoot?

Yes that was one of my 1-28 twist guns. I used a Lee C-501-440-RF 500 S&W bullet paper patched and sized to .501 with 80 gr of Pyrodex P and a over powder wad.
Those big meplats on those bullets smack HARD. I have never heard the sound of the bullet hitting with Hornady great plains bullets. I have seen three animals killed with this 500 S&W bullet AKA "Moose Maulers" and the sound is unmistakable. Ron

My friend that was going to hunt with me just showed up. He saw a lot of antelope like I knew he would. He passed a lot of smaller goats and took pictures. He did see some pigs but never got a shot. Then he bends his sight. His is just like mine and I told him. If you are not hunting that sight needs to be in your pocket. Well he puts it in his hard gun case on his 4 wheeler. Next thing he tries to shoot a coyote and it hits nowhere in the area of the dog. Then he looks at his sight. He brought it to me and I straightened it for him and I think I got it back to where in needs to be. He will need to shoot it again before he goes back out. There is NO reason he should not be able to shoot just as good if not better antelope than mine. I did tell him that this is the last time I LET him call a blind in a area I SHOWED him. I said next time we will flip a coin or we will both use the same waterhole. Then I urged him to not take all his family and their friends out there. I hope he keeps his word. Ron

Thanks for the report. Nice job.
I never hunted antelope, but had a friend give me one once. It kinda smelled like sgae hanging in my garage, but we couldn't really tell the difference between that and whitetail on the plate.
