Default really burned the powder this weekend

went through about a pound of goex 2f this weekend getting guns ready for my NM elk hunt in two weeks. Knight Bighorn shooting excellent, dead on at 50, 2 inches high at 75, and dead on at 100. Group size no bigger than inch and half, for an old cheap gun she's a shooter. My TC Grey hawk .54 430 Maxi ball with open sighs 2 inches high at 50, dead on at 75, and about 4 inches low at 100, group size good just a little surprised at bullet drop between 75 and 100 yards, 75 about as good as my eyes are anyway. Going to use Grey Hawk as primary gun and Knight as backup, just love hunting with the old hammer guns.

It is really hard to beat those two guns. Accurate, reliable, and ready to go...

Good luck on the season... We can not start general elk here until 10/10 - the bowhunters have the rut all tied up to themselves.

The 54 cal maxiball is a mean bullet. I shoot it in my Renegade over 100 gr loose pyrodex. Mine is sighted a little more than 2" high at 50, and it's on at 100. You don't say what powder charge you are using, but I have no issues with groups using 100 gr.
