Took the twins out today " cva mountain stalkers" The .50cal was loaded with its normal 80gr 3f American Pioneer charge and the .54 i tried a new load of .018 pillow tick and 100gr 3f American Pioneer.
Check out the Bore Coated .54 Vs the non bore coated .50
I was able to reload the thick .018 patch like it was a clean barrel. This is really good news because i can now do my Flintlock and get back to used 70gr 3f goex with the .018 patch and not have to run back to the house for a small mallet and aluminum rod to help the load down.

With my eye, they both shot equal LOL. 1.5" @ 50 yards.
I did a comparison on cleaning them out as well. I use a mix of water, windex and murphys oil soap * makes it real foamy* and spray down a patch, press it in and then swab the bores clean.
I understand that with using American Pioneer, Clean up is always easy so i wont judge the clean up just yet but the pictures don't like on which seems to clean up faster. Goex 3f will be up next once i cast some more .54cal balls.
Non bore coat took 3 patches to fully clean out,

Bore Coated .54 took 2 patches to fully clean * One if i had used both sides*

The 54 patches look darker due to the print on the other side of the t shirt patches,

I planned on taking 3 shots with each rifle but after firing the .50 mtn stalker, i had to go to the house to grab a small hammer and my aluminum ramrod to get the Second shot down. I wasnt doing that anymore so i just fired both rifles Twice.

The UBC'ed 54 only showed a tiny bit of brown/red flakes in the rifling edges. No fouling build up at all and #2 shot loaded with ease.
That .50cal is soaking right now for a good cleaning and then getting UBC'ed. Im tired of having to wrestle loads down that bore.
Load in both rifles was 90gr 3f goex, .018 pillow tick patch with Wonder lube. .490 - . 530 round balls.
Ultra Bore coated 54 cleaned after 2 shots,

Non bore coated .50 after cleaning it. The very bottom patch just has a light bluish coloring to it.

It sure is nice when they clean up that easy.
I was shooting the Genesis (Remington) today. I had used that Montana X-treme Bore Conditioner on it. So when I started I took a dry patch and really buffed the inside of the barrel to remove any thing in there.
I was shooting 120 grains of Pyrodex Rs and it surprised me how little fouling was in the barrel after each shot. I swabbed with Windex (Dollar Store Brand) and at the end of the shooting session it took two patches to clean the bore. The breech threads took a little longer because I use Slick 50 One Grease to coat them. This time I just put teflon tape on the breech so we will see if that makes clean up even easier.
