Disappointing day at the range...

I took my Knight Revolution to the range today for the second time in the last couple weeks. Last time it was shooting about an 1 inch high of center at 100 yards. This time, the first two shots were 3 inches to the right and 4 inches high. They were touching so it was consistent. Then the next two shots were just high of center where they were when I finished last time. Does a cold barrel shoot that much different or was it me?
I have to get out at least one more time to see if it happens again.
Oh, and the last round was put in without powder! I snapped a cap and nothing happened. It is too much trouble to tear the gun down at the range and push it through so I waited until I got home. At least then I was able to pull out the 30-06 and put a few rounds through it. Found it was shooting way high and had to adjust it down too.

Part of your shift in POI can or might be the two piece stock... I say that because it really depends on where you place the front rest (if you were using a front rest) on the forearm. Because of the 2 piece stock what ever pressure you apply to the forearm pushes directly on the barrel through the barrel lug. The farther out the rest towards the muzzle the pressure is amplified. Why it may not move the barrel that much and it does not take much - it will change the barrel harmonics which shift POI. I try very hard when shooting a break action to get the rest as far back as I can and then each trip to the range I try very hard to be consistent in the placement of the front rest.
Lemoyne was possibly having the same tyoe problem you are discussing (shifting POI) he solved it by making a modification to the forearm to cushion it to the barrel, but I am not sure what he did - might send him a PM...
Of course all of this is a stab in the dark since I was not the shooter or an observer, but when I had Grouse's Vison here I found that i had a simular problem until I became consistant.
Good luck

Something I found that causes fliers is how you address the rifle. A match shooter showed me a trick. He puts a band aid on the stock where he cheek should rest. He said if you do not feel that band aid, then something needs to be checked. ( you might have seen my rifles with a band aid on their stock. Its for that reason.) The other thing I always have to watch is trigger pull. I want that gun to surprise me when it goes off. And then I make sure to follow through and stay in position looking through the target.
But I have no idea what is causing your shooting. A cold VS hot barrel can make a difference through.

I do use a Led Sled rest which doesn't really let me hold the forestock very well. I will get it out at least one more time to see if it happens again and this time will pay attention to how I hold it.
Assuming it was me this time, how far off can a cold, clean barrel be from a warm, dirty barrel? I do run a wet and dry patch after each shot.

I put rubber washers between the forearm and the barrel to get the Triumph to group tighter.
It sounds like maybe you had some heavy oil in the barrel and did not clean it out good before starting to shoot. I tuned up a Revolution for one of the guys in our club and it is an excellent rifle; it ended up able to hold 3/4 of an inch. It has the potential of being as popular as the Omega and the Triumph or more so. I hope the new Knight co. brings it back with a few improvements to balance and locking mechanism.
