PREDATE, My 700ML shows no prefrence from sabots to conicals. I shoot both slip fit conicals (Bullshops) and the newer type conicals (FPB and Thors) Give 'em a try. I don't think you'll be disapointed.

200 yard shooting ... Wow! that is a long way out there for a muzzleloader. Glad I do not have to shoot that far. As for full bore, I usually shoot a No Excuse Conical. But I have never shot them that far.
Give the Hornady and Thor a try. Be sure to post your results to. I would be interested to see what they do at the longer distances.

I'm not putting down the Powerbelts at all,I've heard mixed reviews. That could all be based on what different guns prefer.I just simply don't know if my gun would like them(won't know til' I try em'),but may I ask what charge you're using with that 295grainer? If there is much bullet drop past 150yds? thanks'

Not trying to start another war... but there are such better projectiles out there that will offer a higher percentage terminal perfomance than a Power Belt. Remember a Power Belt is nothing more than an elongated Round Ball, cunsrtucted of a very soft lead. If you are going to use a Power Belt or a lead conical I would suggest you use a heavy one.
So I think you have the right idea looking in another direction. It is my understanding that Power Belts or even Round Balls will work best with light to moderate charges. Over powering them can lead to the bullet destroying itself on impact. Shooting them at the recommended velocity they seem to perform well but the drop in the extended ranges is drastic... Still with enough practice you can compensate for that.
With any luck... If the Big Brown shows up early enough today - I am going to test a new sabotless bullet in an Omega - it will be intersting to see how it does. I do not even know what weight it is yet.

IMO: A 200 yard shot with a muzzleloader is stretching it. i've done one shot over 200 yards-a big sow at 226 yards. Conditions were ideal and i guessed the holdover right. The hog bang flopped. i will not attempt a shot that long again.

I use only 2 pellets of pyrodex (100 grains). I've never shot past 100 yards. I don't trust a magnum charge in my CVA - I'm sticking with 100 grains & 100 yards max. Those are my personal limits - they work for me with great results. Others may push the envelope farther - that's fine with me, it's just not necessary for me. Think about it - 100 yards is the length of a football field. Do you really need to shoot farther than that? If so , fine, but I hunt FL swamps - 100 would be long for my needs. My point was that Powerbelts ( in my world anyway) are very accurate, hold together well & do a lot of damage. I'm one of those guys who prefers a heavy, large bullet over a smaller, faster bullet. Just my .02...

Ditch the pellets and go to loose powder, you are handloading...Loose powder will fine tune those loads so the gun will group out to 200 yards...
My brother has a 700 and I sighted her in with 100grs of Pyrodex R-S and a 250gr Barnes MZ...
