MD54, you could always try drying them on your wood stove, that would speed up the process immensely :-) :-)

actually setting it by the wood stove would help speed it up a lot, its them damn little dogs running around that like to get into everything is what makes me not do it yet.

I need a tube thats at least 2 1/2 - 3" long so then i can pour the powder into it and then add a little water, this way it will be more consistent than mixing in a bowl and transferring it to the tube.
That's the way I would do it - with very little water, something like a drop or two from an eyedropper. Then I would insert a 4" wood dowel that just fits into the tube and put a weight on top for compression while the water distributes throughout the powder and then drys. I wouldn't try to remove it before a day or two (but then, I may have more patience than you ).

Pellets also have a hole in the center, maybe that would speed up the drying process?

Pick up a copy of Foxfire 5, it goes through making it in detail as well...

Couple of tidbits...The Chinese invented gunpowder around 1000AD...The charcoal is the fuel, the sulfer reduces the ignition point and the potassium nitrate is what supplies the oxygen for quick burning...Powder burns, it doesn't explode...When I give talks on the American Revolution one of my demonstrations is to remove the lock from one of my rifles and put powder in the pan while holding the lock and sparking it off...The kids expect an explosion, I then explain to them what powder is made of and why a gun goes boom...

btw...du Pont came over here and started making blackpowder in 1802, it is the oldest company on the NYSE...David Crockett took Dupont powder with him to the Alamo...

sure am. I got one that came out decent. Out of 87gr, it came out of the mold weighing in at 80 grains. I have a JSG 2f pellet in the mold now. I'll check it in the morning
