Flounder, I'm not quite sure how you held out for a month... Nice find!

I'll probably start with 90 or 100 grains of 2f triple 7 and a 250 grain xtp. Actually I might see if I can find a good conical load for this one. I gotta get some work done in the shop for a few days first.

Guys are they the Hornady .452 250 XTPs or the .429 240???

I bought a box of 100 .452s a few years back and didn't get good groups...I plan to try again and maybe try a different sabot...I'm using the MMP-24s...

Mine has shot real well with the Hornady .452 250 Gr XTP in the Harvester smooth short black sabot, using 90 gr T7 and Rem #11 cap.

Thanks reese, that might explain it...I noticeed a big difference in groups years ago beteen the Hornady SST and the T/C Shockwaves...The T/Cs that year came with a shorted sabot...
Looks like I might need to order some more and give her another go...

I had a nice conversation with William "Tony" Knight on the phone this morning. He told me that the barrel on this older SS mk-85 was most likely made by Bill Wiseman in Texas. He confirmed what others have said that my older blued mk-85 barrel was made by Lothar Walther in Germany.
It's just kind of nice to have that information.
