I am currently only shooting 100 grains of triple 7 pellets (2) along with a 250 grain bullet out of my muzzleloader. If I change the amount of powder up to 150 grains, how much would my shot be off, say at 100 yards? I know that I should go to the range, and I will, but I was just curious to what I should expect at the range.

Only way to know is to shoot it. If yours is like many ML's out there, you're accuracy will probably be a lot worse. If it were me, I'd forget about the 150 grain loads and work up a load in the 80-120 grain range, by 5 grain increments, that is the most accurate. Accuracy trumps raw power any day. At about 120 grains you reach the point of diminished returns, anyway.

Remember T7 pellets are loaded down to equivelent of 50 grains of BP not not 50 grains of T7, so if you load up 3 T7 pellets you will be shooting very close to the equivelent of 120 grains of Loose T7-2f or 150 grains of BP or Pyro. And that will change POI - how much i would hesitate to guess - you would have to shoot it and check it.

When I went from 100 grains to 130 gr of 777 my poi at 100 yards was 8" higher. I wouldn't go over 130 gr if it was me. All my guns if loaded hotter than that begin to double or triple in group size. 100 to 130 gr is more than sufficient. I took 2 deer last year with a 100 gr and a 250 gr bullet. both dropped in less than 20 yards. one was a 223 yard shot and 1 at 234 yards. I would work up the load for accuracy. Accuracy is better than more powder in my book, especially with the right bullet

Thanks for all the help. It sounds like I don't need it, but I might still head to the range to fiddle with it a little.

my most accurate load is a 300 grain XTP in a harvester sabot over 90 grains loose trip7 and a cci 209. shoots clover leaves at 100 yards. not a real fast load but I have faith it will take anything from elk down.
