Just got one with a 209 primer want to convert it to No.11 caps do I need to change the hammer. I shoot No. 11 caps in my old one and have never had a failure don't have the book and don't have a recessed bolt with this new one. Any help would be appreciated

The A&H 209 hammer was considered a 'Universal Hammer' although I think you would really prefer the percussion hammer if you have one. Changing the hammer is very simple, but there is an adjustment you need to make. The adjustment needs to be made with either hammer if you take things apart to clean them.

Thats my problem where in the world could you pick up the proper hammer and spring I found a place that makes an after market 209 conversion but nothing about converting to percussion I just don't like the way that primer holder is designed with the cap the fire goes straight in with this deal there are 3 little holes for ignition

Springs are the same... and I might have an extra hammer from the old days - I will look this evening...
Do you have to switch to a percussion cap? The reason I ask is the 209 is a much more reliable ignition system in an A&H, not that the caps will not work but everything has to be adjusted just right.... or change the spring to an after market spring that is stronger than the A&H spring.
Now you got me really curious - I remember my conversion it is a straight shot. I will look at that tonight also...
Can you get a picture of your 209 nipple out of the gun? I am wondering if it is not a TC 209 nipple used in the Balck Diamond series....
Does it look like this...

Looks just like what I have but what ever the adapter is that is what came from the factory I talked to the guy I bought it off of and he said it was one of the wind down models just before they went out of business is that adapter still available The only problem I have had with misfires was from not checking the set screw on the hammer adjustment and it got out of whack I like the idea of the straight through that I have using percussion caps plus they seem to be a lot cleaner burning

I appreciate you looking this primer stuff is alien to me some of the old slug gun shooters used a sealed breech down at friendship toggle link starters and bullet seaters that was the slick one they had a deal that fit on the muzzle and the swagged slug run most of the way down the barrel and this outfit seated it on the powder the same everytime
