I posted this message in another, which some here read but probably not all. I'm looking to find out how Knight Rifles owners are dealing with the following problem.
Question for Knight Rifle owners who are using BH209:
Which breech plug have you found is better for igniting BH209 in cold & rainy weather -- the breech plug for the red plastic jacket or the breech plug for the conversion non-plastic jacket?
During the summer and fall, I used both breech plugs with BH209 and did not have ignition problems in my Knight LRH with CCI 209M primers. Yesterday, though, I was hunting in colder (40s to lower 50s) temperature with a light to medium rain (not a downpour). Bumped one deer but no shots. At the end of the day, I discharged the rifle and there was a definite slight hangfire. Obviously, I was disappointed (and annoyed) when that happen. I was using the breechplug for the red plastic jacket and CCI 200M primer. Which breechplug do you use in colder or rainy weather?
I still hope that Lehigh Bullets (or someone) comes out with a breechplug for the Knight that works for BH209, if that project is still in the works for Lehigh. Or, maybe Western Powders can take a look at the ignition problem in the formula or look at modified primers for their product.
I like BH209 and my Knight Rifle. But I am starting to think that the reliablity of BH209 is too big a problem for hunting.

I have used the bare primer conversion in my LRH for this year. We hunted in everyday rain, sleet, and cold temps in the muzzy seaon of Colorado, and I shot twice and both were instantaeous ignitions.
Are you cleaning out the rear pocket after each shooting session with a 1/8 inch drill bit? I do this each time I clean the rifle and get a LOT of crud out of the channel. Also, I always pop a couple of caps before reloading after cleaning.
I also used to treat my barrel with oil each time I cleaned it, but after having some ignition problems probably due to residual oil, I just go with Hoppes #9 unless it will be a long time before I shoot again.
So far I have not had a problem, but I do worry a bit when I go hunting.

I only use the NFPJ plug for range work.
Then I use a modified domed plug with the FPJ(the one for the Revolution) in my Disc Elite 45cal for ALL HUNTING.
The domed plug is drilled out in the Flame channel to 1/8 inch diameter, and the Flash hole is drilled out to about .032 -.038 =What ever works best for the individual.
(My flash hole is .038)
