Default Heading to the range today, quick question.

I am finally getting a chance to head to the range today for the first time with the Gennesis, and I have a quick question. When you are swabbing the barrel in between shots, do you take the breech plug out in between shots too, or is it ok to just swab the barrel?

No need to pull the plug. That would be a real pain in the butt. Just run a damp patch down the bore. I recommend 91% alcohol on the patch. It dries almost instantly so there's no need to follow up with a dry patch.

No need to pull the breech plug when you swab. I've put 30 rounds through mine in one setting with no problems. Things to watch out for;

just a moist patch when you swab, and not WET. Swab in short strokes down and back up. I do then run a dry one. And I swab with a alcohol window cleaner mix.

Take your breech plug tool with you. After every ten shots just twist that plug out a few turns and then back in. It will help keep it loose.

Use a patch with the same swab solution, and from time to time, wipe the inside and outside of the cam off. Wipe the pin that the came seats to and make sure that is still moving good. Also wipe the floor of the breech area behind the plug, so every thing sits nice and solid in there. I do it about ever five shots with the patch I just finished using for swabbing...

If you have any shockwaves in 250 grain, try 100 grains of your powder. Mine really likes that load.

Thanks everyone, I am going to have a bite to eat here, then off to the range. I have been waiting for this day for a long time!
