For regular loads Pyrodex P works well with light bullets, I rarely use any thing but BH209 any more. But I still like Pyrodex it is very reliable in all muzzle loaders and I use it in all my traditional rifles as 777 has miss and hang fired and I would not like to have that happened on a hunt.

Thank ya fellas! Now I got a good idea of what I am going to need. I still haven't decided on what powder I'm going to use.

What is the deal with the FFG and FFFG? The 3f is just easier loading isn't it?

No, it is smaller granulation so it burns a bit faster and ignites easier.

I also shoot an Encore, the Endeavor. While I use many loads the 200gr bullets are a favorite. SW 200g blue sabot 120gr BH 2150 fps
Lehigh 200gr 140 gr BH blue sabot 2350 FPS
I do not re sight in when testing for group only when planning a hunt with a particular load.

That is some very impressive shooting there Lee!!

Hopefully, one of these days I'll get some time to play with my Encore and post up some pics of the groups I get.

I have been shooting Harvester Crushed Rib Sabots, 45cal 240gr XTPs, with 100 grains of Triple 7 pellets. I can get 1-1.5" three shot groups at 100 yards with open sights on my Encore. I shot probably 6 deer or so with that load, and it performs great.

The sabots that come with the shockwaves are very very tough loading in my Encore, I'm guessing that everyone is having the same issues with that as me. Is there any other sabots out there that a guy can use with the 200gr Shockwaves?

The 200gr Hornady SSTs for use in 45cal guns are .40" Shockwaves and Hornady SSTs are the same bullet, so I'm going to guess that if you got .400 sabots for 50 cal guns in a harvester crushed rib you would have that easy loading.

They do well in some guns, I tried them in mine and they were too loose. Could not get decent groups. It is my experience that one thickness of sabot will always shoot best in a particular gun but that with different bullets different lengths of sabot will work best

Good point lemoyne. Because of his having tough loading I figured the crushed rib would be a great place to start. I've never used them because I've never had problems loading on the standard sabots (and never experiment with sabots as I'm so satisfied with what I've got, and keep prices down with cheap shots too), but rumor has it they do what they're supposed to.

I've never seen a Harvester Crushed rib for .400 bullets before. I have the .44 and .45 crushed rib harvesters. I'll hafta look into this a lil bit. I love the crushed ribs though, my frontloader loads really really hard with everything I've tried in it so far.
