No Excuses Bullets
#1
For those of you who have tried No Excuses conicals, how did you like them? What ones have you tried?
Im looking to try them in my 54cal. I have a Renegade and it seems that the bore on it is a little loose. I am worried that these bullets might be pretty loose in it. What do you guys think?
Also, what are those other bullets that guy makes who lives or used to live in Alaska?
Thanks

I've used the No Excuses in .503. They didn't pattern well at all. Some like them though
The AK bullets you speak of are Dan's Bullshop conicals. I highly reccomend them. They are extremely accurate in all of my guns. He can size them to what you need as well.

I shot a lot of NoExcuse conicals and they are a very good projectile, in my mind far better than factory offered conicals. Dave, owner-operator, is a quality guy willing to talk you and provide any help he can.
The ONLY reason I prefer the BullShop conical is that I can get them sized to my bore and they become for me a better slip-fit conical. Dan, owner-operator, and his family are excellent people also.
I also should say I have shot far more 50 coniclas than 54 cal.

A friend of mine used one out of his Knight on a hog hunt we went on in TN. He was the only person that got a complete pass through and the damage to the hog was impressive. It convinced me that those bullets are the real deal.

I shoot the No Excuses .54's out of my GMB/Extreme. I can shoot 3 shot 50 yard groups with all bullets touching. Dan in Alaska makes great bullets too however he will not be casting any bullets until October.

Because you are going to be shooting them in a 1-48 twist, I would suggest looking at some maxiball if you can find them for that .54 caliber. They should shoot very well, and be all the lead you need for anything up to a moose.
Although I have had great luck with No Excuse Conicals and Bull Shop conicals in my .50 caliber fast twist and even on some of my 1-48 twist, I tried some of the .54 caliber conicals from BullShop and did not have the best of accuracy with them. Although in all fairness to Dan and BullShop, a person can not shoot a few conicals with one or two powder charges and then claim they do not work. Had I a large supply of them, I probably could have found a charge that made them work. If you want to use the No Excuses, or Bull Shops, get a good supply of them and be prepared for some range work.
Other wise, you might want to stick with some maxiball or great plains, as they tend to shoot well with about 80 grains of powder.

Cayugad,
Are the Maxiball & Maxihunter basically the same bullet. Does one expand better than the other based on design or composition? I am very new to trying conicals.
I just picked up some 255gr Maxihunters to try in my .45 (1:28) & some 275gr Maxihunters to try in my .50 Lyman (1:48). I picked up some 385gr 50cal Great Plains bullets to try in the .50 also.
I will post some pictures after I do some shooting.

Have you eve tried FPB from hornady? I shot 3 of them @100yds as a begining break in bullet for the new Endeavor on the back of an old target that was on the frame I was using at the range when I went up and looked at that 100yd target the expression on my face brought my friend over to look at it.
