I didn't get a chance to test the Hornaday FPB yet but my buddy Anthony dropped one this evening with a .44cal XTP. He has orders to Camp Lejeune and I wanted to get him a hog before he left. It was pouring rain and we were sitting in my 2-seater ladder stand at exactly 100 yards from my feeder. One of the little red ones came out and then quickly darted. He showed himself 2 more times in the following 20 minutes. Then he came back with two more in trail. I told Anthony to go ahead and take a shot when he had it. He waited for a few seconds and as soon as one of the black ones showed itself, he dropped it. It squealed and thrashed a bit but was dropped on the spot. Weirdly enough the rain let up as we were climbing out of the stand. This was his first medium sized animal. He usually hunts small game like squirrels and ratcoons. And this was his first animal ever with a muzzleloader. I got him hooked on them when I let him shoot the Genesis when I still owned it. He was super-stoked especially since he missed one two days ago.[:'(]

Here's Anthony with his first hog! It was a sow. We weighed it and it was just under 100 pounds.



He was shooting my old Remington Genesis I sold him. It has a Nikon ProStaff 3-9X40 scope with the BDC reticle. He was using a .44cal Hornaday XTP with a Harvester green crush-rib sabot over 100 volumetric grains of BH209 and a Winchester W209 primer.

The shot went in the ribs on the right side and exited the neck on the left side taking some shoulder with it.

I'm gonna give them a few days to settle back down and then I'm gonna sit in my ground blind and try to get the black boar with an FPB.

NIce looking porker, looks like the xtp did a good job.

Congrats . It looks like that XTP did a number on that hog. Why I bet the only bullet out there that would have done better is the Lehigh

that looks like some real good meat on that porky. Now if you could get someone to shoot center ( lung through lung ) that'd be even better Thats a lot of damage on the exit side.

Good report. I shoot that exact load out of my Genesis as well. Looks like it did the trick.

Looking forward to the FPB report as well.Lucky dog, I wish I had hogs around here [&o]
