Default Let the testing begin... Hogs

I got back from FL on Saturday and yesterday was my first opportunity to check my trail camera. After only a week I had 213 pictures of hogs. They aren't very big at all in comparison to some that I've taken but they're good eating sized hogs. I'd estimate the largest one to be around 150 pounds, maybe a hair more. I'm planning to take my daughter out there Wednesday evening and do a little ground blind muzzleloader hunting. The ground blind is approximately 80 yards from the feeder. I haven't ranged it yet but I will Wednesday. I have a tree stand set up behind the blind that is exactly 100 yards so that will be a good test for another day.... Maybe next week....

I currently havethe following:

275g PBE's
300g Hornaday XTP's (.45)
350g Hornaday FPB's
250g Shockwaves
250g Barnes T-EZ's
290g Barnes T-EZ's
285g Barnes TMZ's.

I'm open to any suggestions of what you all would like to see based on what I have. All I use is BH209 but I can vary powder charges if anyone wants to see something specific. I'll be using my T/C Encore Endeavor being that it's the only ML I have right now.

Here's a pic of the boar I'm going after Wednesday. The group that's with him seem to frequent my feeder consistently...

Let me know what you guys think and I'll try to make it happen. I plan to post plenty of pics of whatthe bulletdoes to the hog and any recovered bullets.

Id say it looks like your a barnes shooter. Id just like to know how fast your pushing them, & like you said some pics of animal & bullet. Good luck, sounds like you got a good set up

Good luck on the hunt SWT. I've got a bunch of pictures of hogs just like that on two of my food plots, but they're all at night between 8 p.m and 4 a.m. Did you get any daytime pictures?

I don't think any of those bullets will have any problems on those piggies. I pretty much think I know how most of them will perform, but I'd be most interested in seeing whatthe FPBs do.

Yeah, I like Barnes. I would just go out there and knock one down with a T-EZ but I'd like to post some test results for the guys that don't have hogs readily available to them. If the majority wants to see a Barnes Bullet used, then I will use one. I'm suggesting this test for the benefit of the forum members.

I have no clue how fast the bullets are/will bemoving. I don't have a chrono. The sweet spot for the Endeavor seems to be 120g volumetric of BH209 if that tells you anything. Sorry I can't be more specific on velocity.

These hogs seem to favor the evening hours. The feeder goes off at first light and then 10 hours after that. They aren't showing until after 7:00PM. But it doesn't get too dark to make a good shot until about 9:00PM here right now. Over the week they were consistently coming out earlier and earlier until the corn ran out. Then they were coming back after dark. I've got quite a few pictures of them during daylight hours. Some at around 6PM-ish. My wife is kicking me to take her and my daughter out for dinner right now. I'll be sure to post some daylight pics when I get back.

I can do the FPB's if thats the majority choice. I'm probably only gonna get 3-4 hogs off this spot before they wise up and I have to move the feeder. So I'd like to use something a lot of people want to see.

WOW!! have they made a mess of the ground. That sure looks like fun. Good luck with your hog hunt. I personally would like to see what a 250 grain Shockwave would do to one.

Of your list I'd like to see the FPB. I haven't seen a lot of results on game from them. If you're real adventrous, put one through the 'plate' and see how it performs.
