Lehigh .452 250 gr hollow points
#1
I had an opportunity to try some of the Lehigh 250 grain .452 diameter hollow points today. I was using Harvester EZ load sabots. The distance was only 50 yards. The rifle being used was my Remington Genesis which has a 3-9 Nikon Omega scope.
I started on a clean barrel and shot #1 which I was kind of happy with. This was with two 50 grain Triple Seven pellets and the 250 grain Lehigh bronze hollow point bullet. I then shot #2 and again, was pleased. #3 I know I flinched for some reason. I knew it was out of the group the second I pulled the trigger. I then shot #4 but looking at the holes could no say for sure where it was. Unless #2 is a double hole.
I was swabbing between shots with tap water. I then swabbed the barrel clean and got out the last of my BlackHorn 209 powder. I have kind of been saving this for a special occasion. Plus I have more coming from down south. I only had three charges left in the jug and the last charge was more like 106 grains instead of 110 grains of powder. I did not swab between shots. And the group was more then acceptable to me.
I then got some solvent and swabbed the barrel clean. I then tried a couple shots with three Triple Seven pellets and the same bullet. It threw them all over the place on a different target. I would not even call it a group.
I believe this Genesis likes Pyrodex RS pellets and BlackHorn 209 a lot. As for Triple Seven, even in loose form it does not do as well as with the other powders.

Glad you got an opportunity to shoot those Lehigh's. I look at the ones that I have here and it really is difficult for me to shoot them they look so good.
I hope you take time to shoot them from your BD or even the White, I have found that they like velocity. For sure if you have some of the 200's shoot them from your 1/24 White - think you will really be impressed with accuracy and how flat the really shoot.

Nice shooting Dave - You know, I get the same results with T7. My rifles just do not like it in pellet or loose form. I've yet to try BH209 simply because I get good relsuts from Pyro or good old BP.
Those 3 shots with the BH are darn nice.
Hope the knee gets bettter so you can stretch the range out a bit and see how they shoot.

OMG $1.12 plus shipping a piece, I mean I don't mind paying for a good bullet but you have to be kidding me. My pointy tips would really have to let me down to pay that for a bullet.
Oh my bad shipping is included

Just so you know they come shipped priority mail and they come in a plastic container to prevent (should say reduce the chance) any handling damage to the individual bullets.
This is an order that i got last week...

But, still you are right they a premium priced bullet right along with Noslers, Barnes, Parkers, even SST's or SW and I am sure there a few I am missing. I certainly will not shoot to many at paper. Really the worst part is with the failing of the economy and falling value of the American dollar prices for raw materials, well everything, continue to rise - Really big question will the prices come down when the economy turns around?

As for the comment on price.. I've noticed lately in the store and on line that all the premium bullets, like those Sabotloader mentioned, and Powerbelts, have skyrocketed in price. And I hate to say it but I do not see that trend changing in the near future.
Maybe that's why most the time I play with cast roundball.

Now that is great packaging. you are right there is no way a man could afford to throw many at paper they would have to be for hunting only.
You are right though everything has gotten so expensive a man can't afford to have many hobbies anymore.
You know, it doesn't help any when your employer knows they have you over a barrel and you get the whole just be glad you got a job speach in lew of your annual raise, even though we have not slowed down and are still working most Saturdays.
