He's milking you through shipping. It sounds like he's not happy with the sale price as he felt it was worth more. There is no way that the shipping can cost that much. If he did not state a shipping cost on his site, I think you could demand a receipt of the actual shipping cost. He's probably going to try and add a handling fee to all of that too. Contact Gun Broker and see what they suggest. They are pretty good about straightening out something like this.

Well, I am shipping a renegade to a fellow forum member. It is shipping from PA to SD with the same 'actual shipping' and the shipping cost, priority mail is $24.75 + insurance (Under $30 total). So I would send him and email and copy Gunbroker telling him that he is not living up to his end of the contract and you will not send payment until he takes the package to the post office and gets it weighed and comes back to you with the actual cost of the shipping. Send him your zip code and ask for his. Then you can double check the figures (I'd be conservative and give him the benefit of the doubt and estimate the weight at 10 pounds.)
Just for kicks I went into the USPS web site and calculated shipping from Detroitm MI to Atlanta GA, based on priority mail, shipping a 10 pound package, measuring 40"x10"x3" and came up with a shipping charge of a whopping $15.15. So I would say this guy is trying to give you a snow job.

Yeah that's high. I ship my MLs from TN to CO instead of checking them at the airport and they only cost me $25 w/UPS to ship. I'd just be up front (but nice) and tell him that the quoted price is too much. If he does not agree to reduce it, then I would get gunbroker involved. They'll help you out I'm sure.

First of all Don't send the money until you get it resolved. As far as the price goes it seems like a fair price provided the gun is in really good condition. But remember it is a used gun. Also if you have to replace the sights that can get spendy and the scope mounts that are on there are not top notch. So all in all I don't think he should be holding you up on the shipping because he got plenty for the rifle.

See if this address might help you resolve your problem. GunBroker is usually very receptive to solving problem.
Suggest to them and the seller that you would like it shipped to you via US Post Office - Parcel Post. And now I would also suggest that you request 'parcel tracking' be applied as it would help following where the package is

Follow through with Bronco's post - suggest to him that you can calculate the shipping on line and it does not add up to his 'actual shipping'

I wonder if the seller is shipping the rifle thru an FFL dealer and is adding in the FFL dealers fee. I sold a revolver on Guns America a while back and it was less than $40.00 including the FFL fees.
