Now guys, before things get hot let us not forget - this is a muzzleloading post. I know that Grouse45 is leaning heavily on Lehigh bullets products. But it appears he has done a lot of paper punching with them and they do appear to be accurate. No harm in tell us all something you believe in. Whether you believe it or not. And now he posted that these bullets were on sale. (I looked the other day and the 50 cals were $56 for 50. Now down to $44). That's a good sale.
On the other hand, if it wasn't for this forum, I myself would probably not have an inline. I am a traditional ML guy and have been for quite a while. But you guys sort of talked me into an inline and now I have a Genesis and I like it. Of course I still like my traditionals better.
I have an open mind and I listen to all and then make my own decisions. Look at the BH209 issue on here. Lots of talk, but I don't see myself running out and getting any in the near future (only one inline - remember). Also, I've never shot saboted bullets up until about 3 years ago. Now only my flinters shoot those big lead bullets. My inline and percussions shoot saboted XTPs and Shock Waves.
So without any more rambling, lets keep an open mind, make your own decisions, and if it bothers you, don't read the posts. That's why there is a title line on them.

Heh grouse,

Thanks for the heads up on the pricing. I really appreciate the work and expense you have gone through in putting those leigh bullets through their paces. Just wish I could import them suckers into Canada. Will have to stick with the Barnes & SSTs for now I guess.
I'd give them Leighs a try just on your say so as you certainly did not steer me wrong with what I am shooting for a load now.

Thanks Ben, i wouldn't steer anyone wrong. Atleast not intentionally. I really believe these bullets are gonna be the best i ever used. But, i gotta go hunting first to back that up.

BTW- The best all around ML bullet to date for me is the Parker 275grn BE.
I used that bullet in 2007 and shot 8 deer with it with my Savage, it is a good >>>long range<<<<bullet, but it is exactly .450, so getting a tight fit with BH 209 is gonna take some work. I shot them with MMP12s in my Savage. They do fragment on close bone hit, for that reason I went to a Barnes Origonal, this past season 2008 season. They are too hard, they zip right thru on close shots, dead deer no doubt. So next year I am doing Barnes TSX Flatnose 45843, with somewhere around 53g of 4198 instead of the shoulder killing 67g of 4198, bigmoose showed a 53 grain group with the Parker Hydracon that was like yours all touching at 100 yards. I like the Parkers for accuracy, I dislike the supplied sabot, they are one accurate killing bullet. Why Lehigh, if the PBE work so well?

To be perfectly honest, i would not know how good the Parker bulletsare if i didn't try them. I shot 15 Or 16 Deer last year. I actually lost count. Seven with Parkers. Three with the soft tip SST'S. One with the T/C Shockwave. Two with 300grn Deadcenter in a FlinLock. I actually dont remember the others. Always searching for something better. I really think the Lehigh will be the ultimate bullet. I already think the current bullet is at 150yds and under. Time will tell that's for sure.

It it is a 150 yard bullet (the Lehigh), then it has gotta beat a Nosler Partition 300g HG and a Barnes MZ 300g and I don't think they can be beat them under 150 yards. The Lehighs areare more costly, they look like a bigger Barnes Spitfire. Accuracy you got that down in your rifle, but most of us on here can shoot 1.5" groups most of the time, we know the deal on primers, sabots, powders, tight fit, compression of powder, yata yata. So while the Lehigh is an accurate bullet, howdo we know theywill be in business in 5 years? Barnes I know will be in business. Lehigh, andI have no experience. The market is crowdeed, had this happened10 years ago, i would say wow you got something. 2009, just another pretty bullet. Chap

Chap,
They are not for you. Your sold on big name BS. Most people are, so dont take it personel. I could tell by your JS post. I will continue to play and have fun. If Parker goes out of bussiness i'll find another bullet to shoot. If Hornady goes out of bussiness, i'll find another bullet to shoot. The last thing i gotta worry about is a bullet company going out of bussiness.

Grouse, I was talking about the Lehigh not the PBE. What is the point of going with a Lehighor a Hawk or some other off the wall brand, and not have it available in a year or two. I like the Parkers for Deer. You reach conclusions on personality petty quick Grouse, that is not so good a thing, when personality and judment of people are complex and logical, your basing your conslusions on a sample of size 1. In statistics you have to have a sample of size 30 to make any valid inferences, so to make a judgement on a couple of posts is not wise. In fact the Scriptures confirm this in Proverbs, where it says "in many counselor you make war", translated get a lot of opinions and diversity before you make up your mind on a course of action. Chap,
Your knowledge and experience in Muzzleloading is on a level above mine. I have nothing to offer for your superior Barnes bullet company and JS to boot. I want to talk and relate to the guys that get out of bed the same way i do anddont want to argue about every last littledetail. The guy's that like to share information and dont worry about there XTP'S not beingavailable next year to hunt with. If those guys arent here, i will go as fast as i came.Your 3000 plus post's mean nothing to me.Please put me on your ignore list. When i get more experience i will try and talk on your level. Thanks for the short education. Tom
