RE: New to site
Welcome to the sport. I have a T/C .54 caliber Renegade which is a side lock. It shoots round ball, ballets, and conicals excellent. It has a 1-48 twist. Mine being an older (20+ year kit) rifle, it has the set triggers. I heard the new ones do not have the set triggers. I like the set trigger. I would not get the Renegade but the Hawkins which is the same rifle with a longer barrel and a little more brass and whistles is a beautiful rifle to shoot. My friend' s T/C Hawkins has taken deer out to 100 yards and even elk. Thompson Center Arms makes a great rifle, and they stand behind their product. You might want to check this out..

Thanks Guys for all your help. I finally narrowed it down to two that interest me from Pedersoli Rifles.#1 is a Tryon Philadelphia style Plains Rifle .54 Cal. 1 in 48 twist, barrel lenght is 32 1/4" and weight is 9 1/2 pounds, & stock is oil finished Walnut. #2 isFrontier Rifle, .50 Cal, 1 in 48 twist, barrel length is 39" , weight is 7 3/4 pounds, & stock is American Tiger Striped Curly Maple. Both are Percussion and load from Muzzle end so are legal for MuzzleLoading season. Both also have double trigger.
