No, I think it had to be something far worse than a short seated bullet. Maybe one load on top the other...

The only picture I've seen of the rifle was so bad there was no way I could even tell what I was really looking at.
This probably happens more than one would thing. The shooter next to me was shooting his brand new inline last month prior to the muzzle loader season and he double loaded. Fortunately he double checked against his witness mark on the ram rod and realized his mistake before dropping the hammer.

It is very easy to get distracted at the range and make a mistake.

take a look at these sites all I done was a random google search titled ''cva muzzleloading accidents'' and came up with enough to make me not want another one if they give it to me.

to answer a few ? I loaded 90 gr loose pyrodex,300gr sabot shot once i field,apparent miss never seen any blood or find deer, reloaded same load,yes single load with 90gr checked powder before leaving house,came home decidedto unload,laid across hood of truck and fired,barrel directly above scope bursted blowing half scope 30ft behind me,luckilymissing my head only suffering hearing loss thanks for concern can't figure out how to put pis on here sorry
