RE: Bore cleaner
I am going to pick out a rifle and use this Montana X-treme Bore Treatment I bought. I just have to decide what rifle and then how to prepare the rifle for it. From my understanding you have to clean the rifle bore with solvent, and then dry it, and after that use the treatment, then basically shoot the treatment out. Is that right?

RE: Bore cleaner
Dave,
Which product did you get? Bore Solvent Bore Cleaning Bore Conditioner I have the Bore Conditioner and your application description is good. The bore must be clean and dry... Then apply the Conditioner. A little bit on a patch goes a very long ways. Run your patch several times in the bore. Every time I do it I still get a small hint of dis-coloration on the patch... Most important - do not leave excess conditioner in the bore. Just a smige on a patch will do the job. Then before firing run a tight clean patch through the bore and you are off to the races. I run a couple to make sure I am not getting any product out of the barrel. |
RE: Bore cleaner
Looking forward to a report on your results Cayugad. What is that bore conditioner supposed to do for you - make cleaning easire, improve accuracy, or both???
If it's supposed to enhance accuracy, I suggest you shoot a few 5-shot groups withtwo or three different loads inthe gun before treatment, then shoot groups with with the sameloads after treatment. Of course, weWILL expect pictures. :D |
RE: Bore cleaner
Where can one find online to purchase the Montana Xtreme products?
Looked without sucess for the BH209 cleaner. Thanks Steve |
RE: Bore cleaner
I have been using the bore cleaner to remove BH209 I use it on my other guns it takes out every thing. This is an ammonia based product. I have not used the bore conditioner.

Semi
I am thinking the Bore Conditioner will make that much difference in one application or even two - I think it might take a few applications. It does contain eather so it will evaporate very rapidly + if applied correctly will leave a very thin layer of bore protection. I have only used it in the Omega and now and one application on the Disc Extreme which I am hunting with now. I did get one range session in with the Omega after treating the bore, can not say I saw a tremendous change in accuracy but I do believe there was less fouling. I used the same windex patch for 7 shots before it completly dried out and got stiff. |
RE: Bore cleaner
Yes, I bought the Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner.4ounce bottle of it.
I just have to decide which one gets the treatment... ![]() |

RE: Bore cleaner
cayugad is the one that turned me on to birchwood casey. I have a CVA Optima and you can tear down the trigger assembly. I spray inside the trigger and firing pin area and the powder just drips out. I then use air compressor to make sure all is out.

RE: Bore cleaner
