How much better does the 300 gr. shockwave perform compared to the 250gr.(or does it?) Does it hold together better. Is it a better all around bullet for deer and hogs. I'll be shooting 110 gr. of BH209. What do you guys think?

When shockwaves first came out in my area they were 300 grain. And they were used on deer, moose, elk, you name it they got shot with it. Then the 250 started to get used and with great results. I always like a heavy bullet (personal preference I guess) and I am sure it would work fine for what you want. But which ever is most accurate would be my choice.

The 300g SW is better, higher BC, doesn't fragment and has better penetration. For more information on SW (250 and 300g see this, this is Savage shooting, about 400 fps faster than traditional MLers, but you get the point):

Dang Johnny 3 deer with the same bullet..? That must be one tough bullet. Tell me - do you clean it every time you recover it??
Just joshing ya - you know I couldn't let that slide by. Anyhows, I know that the 300 shoots the most accurate out of my 1:28 GM LRH with the 300 gr XTP and crush rib sabot a close second.

The 250 shoots flatter over normal muzzle loader ranges [200yds] the 300gr has better down range energy, best try both and use the one that groups best at your longest rage with the powder and amount it shoots best with. Lee
