went to walmart after work (the only still with that dept). picked up 3 small pieces. that would work great for clean patches and a fabric cutter.

figuring I could get about 1000 clean patches for the 2 that where about 3in wide and almost 5ft long. then a chit load from an the largest piece that is the size of a large baby blanket.

going to cut them in by 2 x 2 patches.

corey before you go cutting it all, try it first. The flannel I got I cut into 1 1/2" squares and it is plenty snug in my 50 cals.
The easiest way to cut it is to get a 1x4 board and lay it across. Put a square over the top and kneel on it and cut the fabric with a utility knife. And please - Don't cut your knee.

now, did you do something and learn the hard way.

I have them in the wash now. I may or may not get an chance to cut some test pieces

I went to a St. Vincent DePaul Society store a while ago. St. Vinney's for those that do not have them are places that take in old clothes, furniture, about anything other then out right junk and clean it and then resale it to anyone. They had two worn out 100% cotton sheets (yes they were clean). You could tell they were well worn, but they charged me .25 cent each. So I bought both of them. I have lots of cleaning patches now.

I checked the thickness, .011 all 3. any other uses?

one is translucent. seems to touch to be ployaster.

I dont know if the polyester would be good for anything but a dust rag. You should have cotton. The .011 should be good a 2x2" but check it first. I got the flannel and 1 1/2" squares is plenty. I can't even use it in my 45.
