I haven't been on board here for a while. Bought a piece of farm land. Tore the old house down. Planning and designing a waterfowl project on it. The shooting range is on the way to it. Yesterday, the weather was perfect. Sunny, 70 degrees, light wind. I took the 240gr Speer GD's and the 10mm/200 XTP's. Started with the GD's at the 100. Shot 5 with MMP sabots and 5 with Hornadys each with 100 Prodex. Both groups about the same at 3-4" open sights.
I haven't shot at 200yds for a while. Back in January, I posted this target and didn't expect to ever equal it again with open sights.

Yesterday, the first shot was off the paper. Moved the hold a bit and produced the 4 shots on white. Moved the hold again and nearly center dotted the target. I was amazed. Shot again and clipped the lower left edge of the center dot! I asked the only other shooter if he would mind if I went down and took a picture. When I returned, I loaded up and fired again and nearly fell out of my chair when I looked through the spotting scope and saw the third hole in the center dot.
I don't pretend to know the odds of this happening at 200 yds. on successive shots with open sights but I'm sure you would all agree it is incredibly small. The target is just a distant speck on the horizon. I've heard it said that luck is what happens when preparation and opportunity come together. I don't know how much preparation or opportunity there was here, but I know there was a boatload of luck!!....and I'll take it!

Very nice shooting.. those Green Mountain Barrels are excellent quality. I just have a hard time seeing that far to a target like that..
How much do you hold over to make them land in the bull like that?

Cayugad - the way my sights are adjusted and with the 200 xtp's and 100 RS, if I place the front bead atop an imaginary horizontal line between the rear green fibers and use a 6 o'clock hold, covering about 1/4 up from the base of the black portion of the target, I'm in the ball park. Once I had elevation, I moved the same "picture" to about 8 O'clock. It is amazing how flat this combination shoots.
At 100 with the Speer 240's and the same powder charge, my front bead is split by the horizontal line between the green fibers and with the 6 O'clock hold 1/4 up from the base of a 5.5" target the bullets land in the upper right quadrant

great shooting yeoman - ya gotta love those GM barrels. I have 5 T/Cs and they all have GM barrels on them. I have one T/C 50 cal barrel I just got used at a good price on Ebay but haven't shot it yet.
