yep i think I have all the information you need - I am in a bind right now - I have to go to a cabin in the Blues first thing in the morning to repair a rafter - do not think I will have time to get my act together tonight...
Might try a search on here for "Omega stock weakness" by sabotloader... it is going to be 6 months or so ago but it will have the most information..
Heck I'll try right now.... Start here this might help - but I will get back to you...

Hey Sabotloader,
Found the post where you outline the problem.
I'm going to give the teflon cutting board a try. Hopefully that will solve my problems.
I'll try to get that done this week.
Thanks
Tom

Here is a picture of the pockets. Notice the built in braces. This makes me think that perhaps I have an updated stock where they reinforced the pockets.

So I installed the shim. It did not lift the barrel enough to clear the front pressure point. So then I cut another set of shims and put two shims in there. At that point it lifted the barrel high enough to get it off the front pressure point but still not high enough to get the sides of the stock off the barrel. I didn't bother to cut a third set of shims because I'm figuring that two shims is already too much as it is.
Any ideas?

Headed out the door to do some shooting - then I get back at you. The thumbhole stock does have those re-inforcement tabs on the lug pockets. Two shims is all thati would try also.
When I get back i will my Omega out and we can do some comparisons + i will re-read your post and make sure I am on the same page with you.

OK - I'm back got a couple of things I would like you to look at and one thing to try...
Look at the barrel itself... Look for bright spots in the finish along the barrel channel....
Then do the same along the forearm of the stock - the barrel channel - look for bright spots - with the camo stock it is going to be harder to see and you might have to get a CSI bright flashlight and look along the barrel channel....
Experiment - leave the two shims in the front pocket- remove the two shims in the rear pocket put the action sctrews in - tighten the rear screw snuggly- screw in the front screw till itis snug. With this done start the dollar bill down down under the barrel and see if slides OK...
Gotta get some practice plans done right now then i will get back with you... Do you have a carpenter's square?
later - mike

Yup I have a square but they are pretty large.
As for the barrel having shiney spots. It won't because a couple of weeks ago I got the bug and cleaned all my guns and checked the undersides for rust and stuff like that. I used 0000 steel wool to clean them and then oiled. I will check the stock though with a flash light.
I will also check to see what the two shims at the front do and report back. I also got a call in at TC I want to see if there is any chance of scoring a laminate stock.
