I don't want to measure powder so I picked up a box of 777 pellets. I'm using 250gr. hornady sst's with 3 pellets. My grouping is around 3-4" @ 100 yards. Where I hunt a 150-200+ yard shot is more than likely to happen. Would changing bullet weight to 300gr. or say switching to 150gr. of pyrodex improve my grouping? Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Maybe your rifle is just not a magnum rifle. Try 100 grains of powder and see what happens. That should still be enough power for a whitetail or mule deer. Although if you want to shoot magnum loads, then try different sabots, or projectiles and see if your groups do not improve.

I would like to agree with Cayugad... 150 grains of powder can set up some wild harmonics in you rifle. If you want to shoot pelets - try 100 grains or even buysome 30 grain pelets and shoot 130. 100 grains should get you any deer you want.
150 grain of T7 pelets is the same as 150 of Pryro - except the T7 is cleaner.
If you think you might be shooting 200 the SST/SW sould be a good bullet... the 300 will give you more energy out at 200 but for Whitetail it should not make that much difference.

Well,I mostly agree with whats been said, each gun is differentand I have have guns that wont shoot good with 77and that wont shot good wit Pyrodex so untill you know I suggest you keep both on hand to try with you loads the SSTwill shoot well out of most guns not all so you may end up changeing bullets, but most of the time you get the right sabot and the right load they will shoot if you told use what gun you are shooting or slug the bore we might be able to make some suggestionsas to what sabots to try. I find that to shoot really good groups often takes different sabots with different bullets in the same barrel. Also get some 30gr pellets a lot of guns that wont shoot good with 150 gr will with 130 or 120. [2x50-1x30] [4x30]
