I remember reading something on this forum about making ones own formula to use to swab your barrel between shots at the range. I think I read Windex and some other stuff worked OK. I will probably get to shoot my muzzleloader this weekend and I just realized I am out of the store bought cleaning fluid. Any suggestions would be appreciated since I won't be able to get to any gun shops before I get to shoot. Thanks in advance!

Steve; A good swab mix is 50/50 windshield washer fluid/alcohol, or straight alcohol . Damp patch, both sides followed by 2 dry patches, both sides. Takes some time but it works and is consistent! If you are using BH209, whitch I haven't, you don't have to swab I've read.!!

A lot of the guys here use a 50/50 mix of windshield washer and alcohol, [which I like for Pyrodex or 777] some use Windex with viniger, they will work for most powder exceptfor Black Horn 209use Hoppes #9 or alcohol. Lee
