I know it's offensive to the gods of sidelocks, but in a moment of weakness I have sinned. I put a scope on my Renegade with the .45 GM LRH barrel. Just couldn't help myself and could no longer tolerate those fiber optic sights.
The scope is a 4X Simmons ProDiamond. The mount is the TC "Quick Release" mount with base adapter (which isn't really quick release at allsince you must remove a cross bolt to takethe scope andring unit off of the mountingbase, and really fiddle with the sucker to get it on and off).
A .45 caliber one-inch barrel isn't light to begin with. But man, that TC basesure adds some weight to the gun. The three-piece mounting unit - base adapter, QR base, and QR rings - must weigh in at almost two pounds. It won't be a walking around rifle, that's for sure. But it should be sweet for sitting on a stand and playing around on the range. May the sidelock gods forgiveme.

We is all getting older ya know, and it is too bad many game departments won't recognize that and allow us old farts a fighting chance at hitting a deer with something other than our cars. I would have a scope on my hunting muzzleloaders if the state I live in weren't so retarded.

Ouch Yeoman, stop it! That hurts.
Well I still have home made peep sights on the Zouave and GP flintlock, so I'm not a total infidel. Those two will never wear glass (I hope).

Well I gave up iron sight compitition at about 57 and I had been wearing single focus glasses for about 6 years, I am 71 now and iron sights are just a blur and will be heading to the eye doctor for I think 4 focal blended lenses this time. Lee

Semi - I will confess curiosity as to the outcome of your scope experiment. I'm guessing that with the GM barrel you will produce sub 2" 5 shot groups at 100 on a regular basis from the bench. Now, go do your homework.
