Yeah Yeoman, homework is due. But the hammer spurjust barely tickles the bell housing of the scope, so I was getting readyto file a tad off the scope side of the hammer spur. Then I read theTC pamphlet that came with the base, and itsays if your hammer makes contact with the ocular bell of the scope theywill send you a new re-contoured hammer free of charge. So I called them this morning and the nice lady said it will be in the mail by tomorrow.
I'll be posting range results sooner or laterBronko, and hope to turn you green with envy.I've casted some more 420 & 340 Lees. Ikept some unsized at .457 and sized some to .452. Gonna be trying those to see if they do better than the ones sized to .451. If they shoot well I'll send you some to try - but you're gonna pay the postage.
I got the base set on-line by putting a "wanted" in a couple of forum classified adsections.
Lee &Thumper, we need a slogan like "Old Farts and Old Eyes Just Can't Shoot LikeYounger Guys"

I did the same thing to my Renegade with a stainless steel .50 caliber GMB but I only put a 1X scope on it so it is legal for our muzzleloader season. I will bet that you have a good shooting rifle there with the 4X.

Semi - Thanks for the offer but I found the perfect combo for my 45 LRH. Its 80 gr of Pyrodex P with 45/40 Harvester EZ load sabot. It really packs them in there.
You know I'm only joshing you. I know you are old and your eyes ain't what they used to be. But didn't your daddy tell you to let that alone or you would go blind? He was right.

But I don't know - maybe it was worth it.

I know it's offensive to the gods of sidelocks, but in a moment of weakness I have sinned. I put a scope on my Renegade with the .45 GM LRH barrel. Just couldn't help myself and could no longer tolerate those fiber optic sights.
The scope is a 4X Simmons ProDiamond. The mount is the TC "Quick Release" mount with base adapter (which isn't really quick release at allsince you must remove a cross bolt to takethe scope andring unit off of the mountingbase, and really fiddle with the sucker to get it on and off).
A .45 caliber one-inch barrel isn't light to begin with. But man, that TC basesure adds some weight to the gun. The three-piece mounting unit - base adapter, QR base, and QR rings - must weigh in at almost two pounds. It won't be a walking around rifle, that's for sure. But it should be sweet for sitting on a stand and playing around on the range. May the sidelock gods forgiveme.
