Found a great place to do 175 and 200 yard shooting. I set my target out there and marked the 175yrd spot and set up my stuff and shot off of my shooting sticks. 2 shots was more than enough to know that the big 405 Powerbelt is dropping pretty good at that distance and the 80 grain charge i use.
They grouped excellent. Right at 2 1/2" @ 175 and using shooting sticks!
I plan on trying 2 more shots at 175 with winchester 777 primers tomorrow. Today i was using remington kleanbores.
Drop, #1 shot was exactly at 13" low @ 175yrd.
POA was the 6 o'clock spot on the small circle. (big circle is for 100 yard Mountain rifle shooting)

So now my question. 3 clicks up to move it up 4" or leave it where its at? An elk has a huge side so 13" may seem like a lot but when the elk is in your scope, 13" to be is doable.
4" high @ 100 puts me 4" high at 50 and 75 yards. Its weird how that works out but its right on the money at the shorter ranges.

http://www.powerbeltbullets.com/docs/PBB28inchballistics.pdf has this for thedrop with 150 yard zero using 100g of 777, you were using 80:
If you know the MV of your load we can drop it into here:
http://www.sav10ml.com/pages/load_data/traj_basic_dat.html
According to this chart you with 100g of 77 you need to be 5 1/4 inches high at 75 yards to get the drop in this chart. I am gonna say with 80g you bullethas the drop of 200 yards at the 175 yard point. So according to the chart you should have been-11.5 inches low at 175, which was about what you were.Anyway if you have a chrony get the ML and we can figure it outpretty close, range tests like your doing it the best. shoot 3 shots.

More propellant, less drop..............

Chap - I would suspect that a 405 grain bullet with only 80 grains of powder might not make that kind of velocity. This is very interesting seeing these kind of results.

If a couple of inches of drop is a concern, why only 80 grain charges?
