Remington 700 ML problems.

My dad just bought a Rem. 700 ML from a friend, the pamplet that came with the gun says to use #11 caps, but they nipple is to large for one, and to small for a 209. The gun has never been fired, was won in a raffle, any suggestions?

By musket cap you mean #11 caps, are they two different things, I thought #11 cap's were musket caps.

Two different caps...

Civilian percussion guns used a different cap than a military musket...

Ok thanks, does anyone know were I can get musket caps, I cant find them on bass pro or Cabelas, it s kind of odd that the pamplet says to use #11 though, do musketcapsfire hotter than a #11 or a 209, thanks.

Musket Caps are musket caps and #11 are #11 ... just like a #11 is not a 209 primer. Some people call them Top Hats, but they are Musket Caps. CCI makes them and I bought mine at a Wal Mart.

No, #11 caps and #11 magnum caps are the same physical size. The magnum is "hotter".

The musket nipple is physically larger than an #11 nipple. In the picture below, the #11 is on the far right and the musket is second from the right.

Here's a picture of musket caps.

All you have to do is switch out the Musket cap nipple with a #11 Nipple but make sure you get the right Threds size . CALL remmington and ask thwem witch nipple to buy. most likely it is a 1/4X28 nipple like a TC Hot Shot nipple . Then you need to buy the CCI mag #1 Caps they are HOTTER. than the reg #11 caps

#11 nipple for the 700ML http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=10956&st=767-991-100&s=27411

Might be a good idea to pick up a couple of spare nipples - they tend to erode and wear out.Brownell's hasspare breech plugs, 209 and musket nipples as well. Numrich also has plugs http://e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=707100&chrSuperSKU =&MC=
