Just saw that the Colorado left over tags list is now availble. Pissed off that they dont have any tags for unit 69-84, only have tags for private land in those units[:'(]
However, i found a great local unit that offers either sex elk tag, 4th season "November" but only 12 tags. Im going to make sure my rear end is up early aug 12th to call in a tag request!

I hunted 84 for years. Go the southern route through us69 through gardner and up into san isabel Ntl forest. Pole creek area to be exact.
I just may have scored the right to hunt a neighbors multipul properties in 85.
What a pisser! 1/2 mile down the road from me, im driving to the PO and find a field full of elk!
My god they are huge this year!

Rub it in FG - I wish I was out there with you. I've been on 3 elk hunts so far and have yet to drop the hammer. I could have taken cows and spike bulls but was looking for something a little bigger. My friend shot a 4x4 last year and we split the $ for butchering and man if I'd have know that elk meat was that delicious those cows and spikes would have been in some big trouble.
I don't know when I will get out again. Maybe next year. (Keeping my fingers crossed). I love the countryout west. I've been to Idaho, Montana, andOklahoma. I enjoy just sitting out on a clear night and doing some star gazing.

Bronko i dont mean to rub it in with this but the Post Master is going to let me hunt his land for nothing. I was telling him about the tag issue and he said the other day 50 head of elk tore down $5,000 worth of fencing they just put up. I can get a bull tag for second or third season and still get a left over cow tag for the October 10th through november 30th late season hunt!! Im going for late season.
