I'm going to pick up some wads or cards to shoot under some No-Excuses and Great Plains conicals, which one of them do you guys recommend? These are the ones that Track of the Wolf has, Linkif you know of somewhere else to get them let me know. The local stores don't really sell any because unfortunately everyone around here shoots sabots.

I've shot the .510 wad A also they come in different thickness as I remember. I got the thinner ones and then if the rifle needs more protection I double up on them.
I started shooting a all natural felt wad that I get from Flintlocks Inc. (I believe that is their name, I would have to check my accounts) They are out of Indiana and I get good results with them as well...

I use the 1/16 Vegetable Fiber wads from Circle Fly.

I really don't think it makes a lot of difference what you use so long as it protects the base of the bullet.

I have a question about the wads on the Circle Fly link. Are the veg fiber wads that much better that the 1/8" Nitro wads or would they be about the same? At half the cost I would lean toward the Nitro's if theres no difference in performance. Thanks for the link.

Dave...I get mine from a guy named Mike Eder here in Indiana. Just ask for the 1/8th inch 45 0r 50 caliber felt wads. (lubed or unlubed) $3.75 for 100 packaged. The company is Flintlock Inc.
His phone number is 317-933-3441 (notation from my notebook when I searched it)
this is the ones I am using now... I really like them and the price is right. The lubed are a little more expensive. But my thinking is, the wad is only there to protect the base of the conical and to help pressure seal the barrel. So if the wad is destroyed by the ignition, I really do not care.
