Well,I think if folks dont like um,dont shoot um.I fired two while hunting last season and have two dead deer. One at 89 yards and the otherright at100 so I have no complaints.
Just like any other bullet each PB prefers a different load and when you find it,there you go.
So to each his own, thats why there are so many bullet choices on the market and each guy will tell you that whatever he killed his last animal with is the best thing since sliced bread.
VIVA LE DIFFERANCE

Well, to be honest, me and my family have harvested about 4 dozen deer with 45cal PowerBelts;) Never lost a one:) Most shots 30-70 yards.

We've settled on the 300g Platinum with 60g of your favorite powder. Magic speed seems to be 1350fps. Good from 20 to 120 yards. Plows right through every time. 1.5 -2 inch groups at 120yards.

In this Pic, ONLY the far Left(275g) and far Right(300g) are acceptable expansion for me. These were recoved at 120yards, fired into damp sandy clay. 60g of Goex Pinnacle 3Fg. The others are 120g Pinnacle...And WAY over expanded[:'(]

Here they are flipped over. The 2 on the far left, 300g Platinum, then the 275 copper clad:

Another angle...Which ones would you trust to perform??? Remember this was at 120yards....

If you don't over-drive them, they will perform great....shoulder shot or double-lung:D;)

Wow that one looks like a top hat!:D

That 120g charge would do great with a lung shot but a shoulder shot would be iffy. Try those 275's in Aerotip and see what kind of difference you get in expansion.

I, like you, Prefer the lower charges as any more powder is just a waste. Even for 150 yard shooting.

No pictures of the deer/bullet/internal damage? Common Lane, you're cheatin us here! :D

OK! These got pulled the last time I posted, so viewer be warned. This is a 175lb class buck,
I apologize,

I was checking my notes, and that Buck shot with the 45cal 300g Platinum PB.... Was actually shot with 120g Pinnacle[&:]at 50 yards!

I was shooting 200g Shockwaves with 120g Pinnacleand shot a doe, I then did a quick Reloadwith the same 120g Pinn loadand a 300g Plat PB[8D]. 20min later the buck showed, and I shot him too.

So those pics show what NOT to do with powerbeltS[&:]:)
.... Forgot to mention, this was a BOOM-FLOP! DRT;)

Thanks Lane, I wont be using the Platinums!

I knew you were holdin out on us!

Man, if you would have used 100 grains, that deer would have broke in half :D

RE: Powerbelt Wants your emails

No kidding, i wouldnt change a thing.

You got some hairy deer where you hunt. What time of the year did you take those? Ours is early September and are sleek.

And dude, You have got to post these pictures on my forum, I know you're already registered! Its insane what that 300 did to that doe/buck Cant see its head!

RE: Powerbelt Wants your emails

Deer 160 lbs and less
140 yards and under ---100 grain charge, 245 gr. A.T. or 295 gr.
H.P.
150 to 200 yards -------150 grain charge, 270 gr. Platinum
Deer 180 to 200 + lbs
140 yards and under--- 100 grain charge, 295 gr. A.T. or 348 gr.
H.P.
150 to 200 yards ------150 grain charge, 300 gr. Platinum

So I am supposed to guess how big a deer and the distance it will be before I leave the house to have the right load?:D:D
Thats funny!!

I would rather have one of several loads that I know I don't have to determine if the deer is too small or large or too close or far.

Use what you want, but don't whiz on my back and tell me its raining.

Steve
