Encores, because of the switch barrel capability, are considered to be firearms and are not something you can mail order unless you have an FFL. If you have an FFL friend, he could order for you but there would still be the paperwork requiremnents.

Unless my FFL is wrong, he told me otherwise. I bought a used encore with the 209x50 and 30.06 barrels. When thery arrived he told me that I should have just had the seller ship the 209x50 together as a muzzle loader rifle and then send the 30.06 barrel seperately then I wouldn' t have had to go thru them and spend the extra $20.00 and more importantly have big brother know that I have an encore.
Just my 2 cents worth here.

I bought the encore mainly because the stock just seemed to fit me better than the omega, but the ability to switch barrels might be nice someday too.
On the topic of FFL' s and the paperwork to buy an encore, I just bought mine last week. The dealer took my money and said " thanks" and started talking to the next customer. I said " what about the paperwork" ? Dealer says " thats a muzzeloader" . I said " I know, but I need to fill out the paperwork on this one" . Dealer gets kinda gruff (like its a sore topic with him) and says " this is kind of a big controversy right now, but thats a muzzeloader and I aint filling out paperwork on ' em" . I said " ok, thanks" , and out the door I went. Personally I didnt care much either way about the paperwork, but I got the feeling the dealer wasnt doing it as a personal thing with the government. Anybody else know of anybody or want to cop to buying an encore themselves with out paperwork? PS, I paid cash

He may get a visit from the fed' s shortly,I don' t know. But if you check out the catalogs, all the ones I have seen say that you have to have a ffl to buy complete gun.Hell here you have to get a pistol permit to buy a cross bow.Whats the world coming too?

Sr corndog did you clink on the link in my post and see the groups I shot with my 50 cal encore,if I can get the 45 cal to shooting those groups I will be in hog heaven. If we ever get any decent weather I will work on it.
I think most of the negative post had to do with the 45 cal barrel but now T/C has changed it ti 1:28 twist, should be a deer getter,if not I have the 50 cal.shooting the same bullet.
