i'm in the market for a new muzzleloader and i dont know which one to get. i like how both feel in my hands. just can't decide. any info would be appreciated on the pros and cons on each one. i know that the encore is about $80-$100 more money. if you have either one, tell me what you like or don't like about it. thanks.

i have a encore and would recommend it to everyone.my buddy & my dad have the omega & cant get them to shoot.i upped my charge from 110 to 120 of T7 and w/250 barnes get 3/4" @ 100yds.(was 1.5"
i dont know of anyone else who has the omega.all guns are 50's.and topped w/leupolds.they have tried pellets powder and dozens of bullets and cant get better than 3". the feel of the encore also is the best for offhand.you can also get rifle barrels for it.a guy at the range sun. had an encore in 300 rum w/28" brl., let me shoot it, what a gun!! well as you see i have nothing bad to say about the encore, its worth the extra $$.

non-typical1,
do you know where your friend got a 300 rum for an encore. Is it custom made? TC doesn't sell them so I was wondering where a guy could pick one up!

I thought that the action of the Omega is pretty ingenious, so I bought one. I sure haven't had any trouble getting it to shoot. It is my first and only blackpowder rifle though, so I can't say how it compares to the Encore.

I bought an Encore this summer. My friend bought an Omega. We both had no problem getting them to shoot. I am shooting 2 50 gr. pellets and 250 gr. Barnes, getting sub-1" groups. My friend is shooting loose powder, Pyro Select, not sure of the grainage, with 240 gr. T/C XTP and getting something less than 1.5" groups. Our season this year was drizzly and wet. We both hunted a couple of times in pouring rain. Both the guns allowed water to get down in the actions to some degree. Both guns went boom with no hesitation, every time. I am very, very happy with my Encore and he is likewise with his Omega. In the Encore's corner, I feel its extra cost is offset by its versatility with other barrels, retaining more value, etc. The Omega is easier to clean, as the breech plug can be removed without disassembly (I am pretty sure). The Encore must be broken down, so as to remove the primer extractor and gain access to breech plug removal. However, once taken apart a couple of times, it is quite easy and takes little time to do so.
Bottom line, I am glad I went with the Encore. I think it is worth the extra cost for reasons stated above. You would most likely be very happy with an Encore. However, as pure inlines go, I think the Omega is a fine gun and wouldn't be a bad purchase either.
Just my thoughts ...

Winger, just a little tip for ya. Take out that extractor and leave it stored somewhere. You'll find the primers to be very easily removed with just your fingers unless your Encore is an exception.
I would suggest that if you buy either rifle, get the .50 caliber variant. The .45s are extremely finicky from my own experience with a .45 Encore. The 1:28" twist of the .50 seems better suited to a wider range of bullets in that particular rifle. My White .45 will shoot most anything pretty well and is a 1:20" twist just like the T/C .45s.

T/C advertises the Encore with the 240gr. sabot. They claim outstanding shot groups. In their catalog for 2002 there is a picture of a shot group using 3(50gr.)Pyrodex pellets and the 240gr.XTP Bullet. It is so tight you would think it was fired from a rifle.
