Default 150Yrd's today

Man is that a ways out there! After today, i walked 2000 yards i am beat. Scorching 90* out today, not a cloud in the sky, not even a breath of a slightly breeze and here i am, dress in camo and a black shirt.
But i got the Mountain Stalker sighted in. Its 2" low at 150 yards with 80g pyrodex p and a 295g HP Powerbelt. My first 2 shots were 6 1/2" low so i adjusted my sight up and got me where i wanted it to be shooting.

After getting dialed in, the rifle was printing 2" 3 shot groups @ 150 yards. I didnt have a way to set up my table and the only possible for me to shoot was standing up and using the V of a thick tree branch.

Out of 6 shots, i recovered 4. My first 2 shots were low and missed the bucket so, im sure they are under the soil.

295g HP Powerbelt @ 150 yards, 80g Pyrodex P.

That's some great shooting gander, especially without a bench and sand bags. I know what you mean about those killer range sessions in the heat. I usually end up looking like I've gone swimming in my clothes (fat boy sweat).

Hitting 2" low at 150 putsyou how high at 75 and 100?

Probably 5" high at 75 and 100 yards. I only have one powerbelt left Isnt is weird how you run out of powder, caps and bullets all at the same time? This will be a costly restocking job.

Once i get more bullets i'll check on the 75 and 100 yard height. For now i am going to go back to shooting the flinters, hmm also low of powder with those too [>:], and get my kentucky on sight. I went and browned the barrel and lock on the kentucky and i gotta say, it looks a hell of a lot better now. She's spittin 178g Powerbelt lead balls

Im goin out now with the kentucky and few powder tubes. Talkin about it just gave me an itch to shoot her. I even spent $20 and had the frizzen rehardened and its throwing better sparks than my lyman!

That is some really good shooting. How big of a bull did you shoot at? Those are some impressive groups for that distance. Nice Shooting.

I set up a 6" bulls eye and i didnt like it at all. It was the size of my front sight but i like it smaller so i can aim at the 6 o'clock position and then use that small black dot and put it right in the middle of my front fiber optic. It was a good day. It really felt great to be back at these ranges again.

Just took the traditions kentucky flinter out today at 100 yards. 80g goex ffg, tc lubed patch .015 and a home cast powerbelt lead .490 ball and once i figured out exactly where it was hitting with the low charge, i settled for a 2" group. Its shooting 7" low @ 100 yards with 80. My standard load is 110g FFFg and i'll tell you, I will never buy 2f goex again! I had to force down every ball after the second shot. Fouling in the bore so so horrible. I never had to do this with this rifle when i used 3f. Good thing, instant ignition with the new RMC liner and the rehardened frizzen.

Two inches at 150 yds. THAT IS SOME GREAT SHOOTING I tried 200 yds. yesterday and it was like 6-8" , but only 1.5" at 100 yds.

It makes me wonder what the groups would have looked like if i had been using the Aerotips! Those shoot a lot tighter in this rifle. 1 hole groups @ 100 yards.
