Default Maxi surprise!

Took the Apex out this morning and loaded up a 285g GP conical and 70 Pyro P. 71 yards i missed the target, Turns out i was Over shooting it by a good 10"

I loaded up a 255g maxi hunter with the same charge and went to my 58 yard range target. Perfectly center of the bullseye but 5" high. I reloaded again with a 255g maxi and pulled back to 71 yards. 4" to the left and 1" high of the previous shot. So, 6" high @ 71 yards. I adjusted down 10 clicks and 8 clicks to the right. Hopefully that will put me on sight with the maxi's.

I'll have to pick some up at the gun store and shoot them and see how they group.

After that i will move onto the Powerbelt Platinums in 300 grain.

Rifle seems to be doing very well with the conicals ive shot in it so far. After what i've read, it seems i may have gotten lucky with a conical shooting .45

Next scope will be one those 20x sniper scopes with night vision/heat seaking/Laser/target tracking scopes.

Good idea! A GPS in the scope would make it a lot easier on me and it will always be right where i need it.

Gander

I was getting 1450fps from 60g of Goex Pinnacle Powder pushing the 300g Platinum PowerBelts out of my 45cal Disc Elite yesterday.

Harvested 3 deer last year with that same load Seems to work perfectly, with no over expansion

Good! I plan on using around 80 to 90g pyrodex P. Hopefully it will shoot pyrodex select with the powerbelts but i'll have to let the rifle tell me what it wants.

I'll probably use this just for rifle season as my flinters are always #1 when it comes to muzzy season.

I've decided that i am going to keep it for a while and start updating the rifle with some new stuff.

CVA Crushzone "I think its called" recoil pad for $14 VS limbsaver for $38 seems like a no brainer and from what i heard, its just about as good as the $38 recoil pad.

Going to replace that heavy, noisy aluminum ramrod.

Buy higher rings and mount my bushnell banner on her.

Replace the breech plug with the new cva plug. This one has what i call the rounded threads while the new plugs have the sharp pointed edge threads. It seems to keep a lot of the blow back out of the threads.

Had one of those new plugs on my winchester before i sold it and it cut the blow back down a lot.
