The above hardware was from a vintage t/c hawkens
The stock in the picture was from a PA hunter percussion

Amen, that is what we want to know, can you place a Hawken FL barrel and a Hawken FL lock on a Percussion Stock, and you have shown you can. Great picture. Thanks so much. Chap

RE: A new rifle... again.

being from pa. i have not seen to many of those guns shooting,a lot of people keep them as they are worth a lot of money.

yes, they are 1-66 twist.

15 years ago i saw a few shooting at our club.

those guns were tack drivers with rd ball.

now, they are collector guns and not many bring them to club ,only to show them off.

did he say how old it was?

I just called TC Arms and asked the lady if a TC White Mountain Carbine can be converted to FL, she initially said no, but then looked at the pictures and went back and asked one of the gunsmiths and said yes. A TC FL Lock is $125 and a GM barrel is $95 + shipping. Good deal for 'builders', especially if they are tack drivers. Chap Gleason

Yes, I know that is true, because I have some PDFs of it on this forum about 2 years ago. I just called
TC today to ask if they sell a FL lock for the White Mountain Carbine, and they do the Hawken Lock for $125. $95 for a percussion. Chap

Cayugad,

Nice find there. I have the same rifle in flint. They have .010 deep rifleing and are 1/66 twist. Some of the later models were 1:38 or 1:48 twist. If it's 1:66 twist you have yourself a tack driver.

Try out my favorite load if you wish. Might save some tinkering time. I use 85 grains of Goex 3f; .495 Hornady ball; .018 Criso lubed patch and a .54 Wonder wad. Try it out; these guns love Criso as a patch lube! The Wonder wad helps a bunch too.

thanks for the heads up Mossie.. it should be here tomorrow. If the little brown truck gets here early enough I might get a shot or two out of it.
