RE: is this a stupid idea or a good one
I'd worry that the bullet would not be seated correctly in the sabot...

RE: is this a stupid idea or a good one
Have had my .50 Encore for about 18 months and have fired it about 500 times. That gun has a very tight bore: Every recent model TC that I have fired has a tight bore. It is very difficult to get a250 grain SST in the standard sabotdown the bore of my Encore. Those tight fitting sabots are good for 100 yard groups of 1.25 inches and better.
Tried the crush rib saboted 250 grain SST and the gun shot all over the place. Also tried the Hornady low drag sabots with the SST bullet: Groups wereall over 2" but less than 3." |

ORIGINAL: nchawkeye The better solution is to find the right bullet, sabot combination that loads fairly easily and is accurate... http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=00072H15045BR buy a package of MMP24 (they are thinner than MMP12's) and a package of 3 petal-EZ from www.mmpsabots.com. Then you have all the sabots to try different combinations in your Triumph. You want them "goldilicks tight", not too loose you can push them with 1 hand, not too tight that you have to pound them down, but just right, with about 30 lbs of pressure to load, tight but not too tight.
