Finally shot the Mustang--Semi home work done
#1
Distance was 53 yards and the sun was in my eyes so I had a hard time staying focused..Group on the far right has 3 shots the others only 2..Wiped bore after each shot...I forgot how good the Goex powder smells...So my home work assignment is completed for now....Johnny

There sure is a lot of homework getting done around here. A little warm weather and all the shooting irons come out. How was the 150 grains charges for recoil?

I didn't notice a lot of recoil..I guess I was concintrating too
much on seeing the target, with the sun in my eyes..I
should have shot earlier in the day,but had other things to
get done...[8D]

Well it was bright and sunny here as well but my target stand is back in the shadows of the woods so it was not all that bad. My problem is to get the sights in focus and then the bulls eye in focus at the same time. One of them has to be a little on the blurred side. But I make due with the open sights.
I've only shot 150 grains with pellets and that was a few times in the Black Diamond XR and the Knight Disc. Recoil was not as bad as I thought, and accuracy was actually pretty good.
That would sure be a take no prisoners load you're shooting there.

Well done johnny2. Ya` gotta do your homework if you want to pass next fall.
I agree with you on the recoil thing. I find my Mustang really easy shooting even with stiff loads and 300 grain bullets. That Pacmayer pad is really nice. You shooting with iron sights, or a scope?

So I will be idle for a day or so..Hope to do some shootin and bullet casting as well..

When I had a Mustang I couldn't get it to group with the light charges and heavy bullets I like to shoot. Looks like it was made for light bullets and heavy charges! Not a bad group at all with the 150 gr load.

I haven't shot my Mustang lately - been playing with the GP flintlock and Zouave. But I bought 100 MMP orange sabots for some experiments with .458 bullets in the Mustang. Just can't seem to get to it. Right now my best shooting/go to load is with T-7 and Gold Dots. I've posted this target before, but here's the type of groups I get with my pet load.
