Default A new pistol and 50 lbs of lead!

My wifes cousin came over today so I could look at his shotgun and maybe help him with an ejection problem.
When he came out to the man space (garage) I was putting the cylinder of my 1851 navy back in the frame.
He commented that he always wanted one of those revolvers. I told him that BassPro could hook him up, unless he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
He went out to his truck and brought in a Traditions Kentucky .50 percussion pistol and 50 lbs of lead, and said,"Refuse that".
So now I have a .50 pistol and 50 lbs of lead.

I wasn't sure how pure the lead was, so I got out my pocket knife.......
The stamp on top of the bar is "DIXIE LEAD CO."

Anyone that shoots one of these, give me the scoop. Charge, patch likes and dislikes. Can you shoot a conical (LEE REAL 320 gr)out of it with any degree of accuracy? Or is roundball the way to go? The barrel twist is 1:20.

I have a Lyman "Plains Pistol" .50 (I believe 1:30) that likes PRB or the Lee REAL (either 250 or 320). I shoot 40 gr fffg BP, but I'd check recommended loads and start off light.

Looks like a good trade to me. I know a lot of guys like them, but I just never had a feeling for cap & ball revolvers. Now, that Kentucky sure makes me smile. Makes you want to stick it in your belt in case you need to performa coup`de graceon a deer.
