Sure pick on a fellow for helping out... I get blamed for everything. [:@]

You are going to like those little barrels. I really think they make an excellent rifle even better.

Shots 1-3 were with 90 grains of Goex 3f shooting a 375 grain Buffalo Bullet SSB which is a pure lead Spitzer hollow point. They were spraying all over the place and I noticed black powder speckles all over the snow in front of the shooting bench. So I cut the powder charge down to 70 grains of Goex 3f and the same bullet. That was the ticket... It really started to lay them bullets in there. Open sights are not my favorite, but I would hunt today with that rifle and that load. The rifle fired flawless.. It was a good day on the range. That was shooting at one of those little cake paper plates. That main group measures an inch and a half, not counting the 90 grain sprays and the ones in the bulls eye.. so over all that is a pretty good load.

That is a good group Dave I thought with a short barrel you might have to reduce the loads. I got mine the other day I am waiting on a T C I am trying to get to put that barrel on. It comes with a 1/66 50 that is going to go down the road I shoot 54 in rb I have a 1x66 for it.

The main group I am very pleased with. And that load would be plenty for any whitetail with that big of a sabot round. I was really pleased with the way the flintlock shot today. I have a good flint in it, and it was as fast as any cap lock in the wall. Just a real nice day shooting. Then company showed up so I had to quit. Of course, they brought me a new camera so now I have another toy to play with. It takes a pretty good clear picture.

Oh you are just getting me all excited. My card has been tapped so I guess it's in the mail. I think I'll start with ......hmmmmm.........

Something really off the wall.

20 gr 2f Goex, 1 x 50 gr pellet of T7 ( I have a bunch that need disposing of.) and a 340 gr Precision Rifle Dead Center.

The postmen don't still ride horses do they?

Great shooting guy's!

Thumper,

How would you put a scope on it? Are theydrilled and tapped?

yes, these barrels are drilled and tapped. You need to order a mount from Fox Ridge Outfitters and there is another company, but I forget the name. You remove the rear sight and the single screw near the tang. The mount attaches to those three holes. Then there are a number of different adjustments for the scope rings.

Just something about a modern scope on a traditional ML that makes me think - YUK!. Yeah I know it'll help us old farts shoot better but it just don't look right. I think if I ever put a scope on one of my traditionals it would be an old brass one - if I could find one.
